West Virginia Telehealth Alliance

Mission

The mission of the West Virginia Telehealth Alliance (WVTA) is to advance telehealth use and telemedicine capabilities throughout the Mountain State and to improve health care by:
 
  • Developing a statewide telehealth network infrastructure to enhance healthcare delivery with priority emphasis placed on rural medically underserved regions using telehealth/telemedicine technologies;
  • Helping rural locations have increased access to health care and supporting services while containing or decreasing healthcare costs;
  • Aiding in the dissemination of relevant information, training, and technical assistance to healthcare organizations and providers to assist them with the adoption, deployment and utilization of new and emerging telehealth technologies for patient treatment and care coordination;
  • Increasing the use of distance learning in public health and medical care;
  • Helping to spur the use of electronic medical records; and
  • Facilitating access to training for healthcare workers, medical professionals, and patient education in rural and medically underserved areas.
